Reworked Green Knit Vest

This was a really quick alteration project that I did on a green knit vest that I thrifted from my last Goodwill trip. I have been on the hunt for a bright, deep green knit v-neck vest, so when I saw this green knit, I had to buy it. I unfortunately do not have an before pictures of the piece, but it had a square neck. I'm still on the hunt for the green knit though... I'm imaging a little darker green color with a cable knit texture... Maybe I can thrift an old cable knit sweater and dye it green?

Anyways, my first alteration was to make it a v-neck. I honestly only initially planned to make that one edit, but lo and behold, there ended up being more. I also don't have a picture of how it looks as a v-neck because I hated it when I first cut and sewed it.

As I was playing around with the silhouette a bit more, I decided to add a ruching effect to the front. This was how I intended on it looking:

My first thought was to make two channels and add a string to the front to tie it and create that bunching. I ended up also hating how it looked. The channels were just too evident in the front and the exposed string was not a good look.

I then remembered a technique I saw in a YouTube video where they created one long stitch and then pulled the fabric on one side to create the bunching. You can really just Google how to create ruching on fabric and a tutorial will pop up. It's super easy.

I didn't take proper pictures of the top, but I ended up loving it so much so that I wore it the next day. Below is a screenshot. :-)
