It's crazy because my goal in my Creativity class was to make more cyanotype clothes, but I never got around to it. I recently decided I wanted to make some swimsuits, and figured hey! Why don't I try making prints on the white swimsuit fabric? Here goes nothing.
I also had a lot of extra denim laying around, so I decided to try making a print on that as well.
8.2.21: I tested the swatches. Below are some process pics. One issue I had is trying to get an even coat on the fabric. One worry I have is the contrast not showing through, or the dye washing off the fabric (particularly the swimsuit material). I'm a bit annoyed at the swimsuit material since it's so thin.
8.4.21: Rinsed out the fabric yesterday after letting it sit in the sun for about 1 hour (gloomy day). Swimsuit fabric is very faded with splotches. I'm not made at the fade, but the splotches are not ideal. It looks...dirty. Denim has terrible contrast. You can only see the print when you hold it up to the sun.
8.4.21 I'm going to try again with only 1-2 thin layers of chemical. I'm also going to try leaving streaks to see how it affects the print/pattern.
