Pink + Representation

I feel like it's been a while since I've posted, but I haven't made anything new in a while, and while my thoughts have been racing, they were just loopholes that needed to stay in my own head.

Very slowly but surely, I've been pulling myself out of a mental rut. A lot of it stems from the anxieties of being a senior in college, but a good portion of it has to do with imposter syndrome. Anyways, today I decided I wanted to look intimidating to help my confidence (fake it til you make it), so I wore my (fake) nose ring, and went about my day. I woke up at 5am (not even with an alarm), went to the gym, got ready, ate, sew, and had my meetings for the day. I specifically set aside the time this morning to sew. I could've gone into lab, but I think this was more rewarding for my mental.

Below is a fit check. It was nice to be able to wear shorts because I didn't have lab. ALSO, the boots need a moment... I got them from depop and I'm in love. This was the first time I took them out.

I thrifted a chiffon pink scarf the other day for $2 with 0 clue on what I wanted to make. I bought it with the intention of having it be a coverup skirt for the beach, but I don't think I'd get as much use out of it as I'd like.

I started playing with silhouettes for a top (below).

What's tricky is I have limited fabric, so I have very limited room for error. I'm a bit nervous with each cut, but I'm sure it'll work out. :-)

8.2.21 I finished the top in preparation for a trip to NYC, and I never took pictures in it... sigh. The finished top looks like the third picture above. The sewing job isn't AMAZING, but it got the job done. I admittedly rushed the process for my trip, but I still love it.
