Ideas galore! A peak into my "notebooks"

Like Austin Kleon said, as artists, we steal our ideas constantly. As with many others, I draw inspiration from basically everything around me. Most times, this means I get an idea while driving to class or sitting on the couch at a friends house. I really tried to be those cool people who keep a little notebook to jot down ideas, but the truth is I'm Gen Z (In technical terms I'm a millennial but I digress), so I usually just keep my phone on me. In fact, whenever I leave the house I remind myself with "phone, wallet, keys" but maybe I should change it to "phone, wallet, keys, notebook". It just doesn't roll off the tongue the same.

Nonetheless, here are some scans/images of my creative notebooks in their many forms.

1. Digital, drawing

Here are some screenshots from my notes app. Sometimes I'll draw a figure and actually sketch the piece out. These typically happen late at night when I can't sleep. I'm pretty sure I did those first couple ones at like 3am one night. Other times I'm influenced by the shapes of things. The last screenshot is from the shape of bridges. I really liked their lines and might incorporate that into a pattern or silhouette.

2. Digital, screenshots

I spend most of my days on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok because I, like many, am addicted. I honestly use them for inspiration which makes me feel less bad. I have a second Instagram @couldbehasan (linked in the menu tab here as well!) where I only follow creatives, so scrolling through my timeline always brings a lot of inspiration. Sometimes I'll save the posts on Instagram or other times I'll screenshot the picture and keep in in my "Inspo" album on my camera roll.

3. Digital, Pinterest

I only recently got into making mood boards on Pinterest because of my friends. It seems like everyone had a Pinterest phase in middle school, but I was DEEP into Tumblr back then. I wish I could find my old account and see the things I was inspired by. I've included my Pinterest link below if anyone wants to check out what I've been inspired by.

4. Physical, drawing

This one is something I use more so to finalize details of a piece. Included in the pdf are some scans from my physical notebook which is just a bulky Mix Media book I got from Michaels. I have a bunch of these laying around because I use this paper for my cyanotypes. I recently got a dot journal which I hope to use in the future. I want it to be my notebook that I take everywhere, but we shall see.
