Thankfully, I have this nook in our house that I keep as my designated workspace. On my desk, I have the essentials: laptop, a laptop stand so my neck does not hurt, a French press to fuel my coffee addiction, Bluetooth speaker to set the vibes, a variety of notebooks and creative journals to jot down ideas, many different writing tools, and a bunch of flowers. Next to my desk, I have all my cameras (film and digital) on a hook for easy grab-and-go, a canvas that I have been working on, and paper that I use for pattern making. Behind my desk, I have another little desk that holds my printer, extra notebooks, some magazines, and books that I look to look through for inspiration, a diffuser and candle to create a calm atmosphere, more flowers, and a picture of my best friends to remind me of them. There is also a chair that I thrifted ($3!) and keep when I get sick of sitting at my desk chair (usually to read), and a mirror to help me quickly try on and look at pieces I just made. I also have a tripod that holds my phone for when I want to take fitting pictures. I have a lot of plant babies which are not pictured, but my nook is an extension of our living room which has all my plants and a huge window which I can see the sunset from. They honestly just bring me a lot of joy and fill the space with life.
I am waiting on my friend to come back and bring my sewing machine and cyanotype materials with her. I plan on keeping the sewing machine under my desk and bringing it up to use whenever I need it. This desk is my primary school workspace, so I do not want to keep it too cluttered throughout the day. The cyanotype stuff will also stay under my desk. Making the prints usually involves me taking up the downstairs bathroom as a darkroom and laying out frames in the sun, so it will not be necessary to keep the materials on top of my desk- they just need to be easily accessible.
My living room and bedroom have a lot of art in it, but I want to get some more to fill that white space next to my desk. I am thinking the canvas can go there when I finish it.
